Le Mans 24-hour Virtual Race

Le Mans 24-hour Virtual Race

Le Mans ,24-hour endurance racing, will be kicked off this weekend in Le Mans, France.  This race is the real deal to prove how tough is the racer, car engine, strategy, etc. I have watched the race last year and somehow, it took lots of energy and kegs of beer to stick with the race. I know some of you agree with me…

Yesterday, I happened to discover the new way of watching this race without wasting too much of beer and you can actually enjoy it with your pals.  Michelin (the main sponsor of Le mans)  and French motoring association Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO-the organiser of Le mans) have launched this multi-

After the success in sponsoring the Pro Handicap racing team last year, Advanti Racing continues to make a history this season. The highlight of the race is the endurance 24 hours race starts from Nurburgring, Germany. The team will be led by the renown one-arm handicap driver Wolfgang Muller, driving a brand new Audi TTS with Advanti SP4T wheel. They will be joining in various races this year with the confidence to make the new record of Handicap racing history.

Scuderia Toro Rosso might not have scored any points in the Turkish Grand Prix, but both Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi fought valiantly throughout on their way to finishing twelfth and sixteenth respectively.

Having had a disappointing qualifying, the team went for an unusual strategy, with our two drivers the only ones, apart from Hulkenberg, to start on the harder tyre, having ascertained that the softer one, while naturally being faster, did not seem to suffer significantly more on the degradation front. With Jaime, the strategy nearly delivered a point, because after he had built up a comfortable cushion over Liuzzi’s Force India, the team brought him in for fresh rubber for a second time. From that point on, our Spanish boy was flying and if he hadn’t been delayed by a lapped Hulkenberg and if the race had been a couple of laps longer, he could have caught and passed the two Saubers, lapping much slower than him. In fact, it’s some scant consolation that Jaime set the third fastest lap of the race; quite an achievement when you look at the quality of the rest of the field.

Bike Bike Bike!

The bike fans may have been complaining there are always plenty of new innovative car designs, but not for the bikes. Here, we are bringing all smiles on you (with, perhaps, money out of your pocket). Seems like the carmakers recently move their interest into a bike. the whole Go-green concept might be one of the motivation. I am actually a bicyclist myself so this kinda excites me really…

Past-Present-Future of ‘wheel’ (2)

Ok, last time we talked about the first wheel in history. It was more or less a non-motor vehicle. From Fred Flintstones’s car , to a Celtric Chariot.  Today, we will see what is next after the world made a great invention of the Automotive.

Wheel for Automotive more or less started with this sweet-classic 1885 Benz Patent Motorwagen by Karl Benz’s . This father of  Mercedes  designed all kinds of vehicle from horse-carriage , bicycle and lastly and successfully Automobile.

The three-wheel vehicle used bicycle-like wire wheels, which were fitted with hard rubber.

Speaking of rubber, the first people who thought about using it for automobile purposes were André and Edouard Michelin, who later founded the famous tire company. In 1910, the B.F. Goodrich Company invented longer life tires by adding carbon to the rubber.

2010 Beijing Motor Show – Crowded

China became the world’s largest automobile market last year at 13.6 million units (against 10 million sold in a depressed US) and the experts are saying it’ll be anything up to 25 per cent bigger by the end of this year.

Opened its door yesterday, the 2010 Beijing Motor Show is a great showcase.  Super crowded with new product – 89 new models, 75 of them for the Chinese domestic market. All eyes were on Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes and MG, as they will have one or two new models on show.

STR in a disappointing Chinese Grand Prix

Jaime Alguersuari (STR5-03) Pos. 13th
“I tried to get points today, but in the end it wasn’t possible as I made a mistake lapping a Hispania, who was slower than me and was shown the blue flag, but he moved from side to side. I tried to get past on the right, but he came back on me and touched my wing, which is how I lost it.  We tried to switch to Intermediates before everyone, but in the end I had to pit for an additional set. I did what I could in what was a crazy race. On the slick tyres, we were really fast and I got past Sutil and there were some good passing moves, but I’m disappointed with the result. Now we go tomy home race in Barcelona where I hope to challenge for points again.”

Points for STR at Sepang Track

Malaysian Grand Grix

Jaime Alguersuari popped his F1 points cherry today with a fine drive to ninth place in the Malaysian Grand Prix, with team-mate Sebastien Buemi coming home eleventh.

“This is boring, talk to me.” Those were the words of the points scoring Jaime Alguersuari to his race engineer, with about 20 laps remaining of the Malaysian Grand Prix, in which he finished ninth and Sébastien Buemi eleventh. Truth is, our young Spaniard was worried about losing concentration, but his actual words could not have been further from the truth, as he had some cracking battles throughout the 58 laps of what was a very exciting race, even without a single drop of rain falling on the Sepang track.

The first wheel of history - - looks (something) like this!

By The Wheelmaster

After looking at so many wheels on so many cars, I just had a curious question popped up in my curious mind. How is the first wheel in the history looked like??? It must be pretty awesome to know what kinda material they used and what kinda design was it? So, one lazy afternoon here I am at the computer looking for some info. And Dang!.. the (more or less) wheel in the history of mankind… CLASSIC….

Based on diagrams on ancient clay tablets, the earliest known use of this essential invention was a potter’s wheel that was used at Ur in Mesopotamia (part of modern day Iraq) as early as 3500 BC. The first use of the wheel for transportation was probably on Mesopotamian chariots in 3200 BC. It is interesting to note that wheels may have had industrial or manufacturing applications before they were used on vehicles.

Jaime Alguersuari just missed out on a championship point after a steady drive by the Toro Rosso man in the Australian Grand Prix.

The 20-year-old Spaniard had enjoyed a long duel with veteran Michael Schumacher, who eventually pipped him to 10th place. Alguersuari, finished 11th, with a time of 1:29.832.

Sebastien Buemi’s race ended in lap two, as he was caught up in a crash involving Kobayashi and Hulkenberg. The Swiss driver was one of 10 drivers who pulled out of the race.

McLaren’s Jenson Button took the chequered flag, with a time of 1:35.296. Kubica was just behind him in second, followed by Massa, Alonso and Rosberg. Hamilton came sixth.
