
The first wheel of history - - looks (something) like this!

After looking at so many wheels on so many cars, I just had a curious question popped up in my curious mind. How is the first wheel in the history looked like??? It must be pretty awesome to know what kinda material they used and what kinda design was it? So, one lazy afternoon here I am at the computer looking for some info. And Dang!.. the (more or less) wheel in the history of mankind… CLASSIC….
Based on diagrams on ancient clay tablets, the earliest known use of this essential invention was a potter’s wheel that was used at Ur in Mesopotamia (part of modern day Iraq) as early as 3500 BC. The first use of the wheel for transportation was probably on Mesopotamian chariots in 3200 BC. It is interesting to note that wheels may have had industrial or manufacturing applications before they were used on vehicles. (more…)
