By The Wheel Master
Last time we saw those 3 handsome cars. I mean, 2 handsome ones with a bag on wheels. (Sorry Cadillac-Gucci, I was just not into it). This collaboration is quite fun though. I wonder why there was nothing outstanding in these past years. Or people have already got bored??? I am not!
1972 Javelin by Pierre Cardin
During the 1972 and 1973 model years 4,152 Javelins were produced with a special interior option designed by fashion design Pierre Cardin (official on-sale date was March 1, 1972). It has a multi-colored pleated stripe pattern in tones of Chinese red, plum, white, and silver on a black background. Six multi-colored stripes, in a tough satin-like nylon with a stain resistant siliconefinish, run from the front seats, up the doors, onto the headliner, and down to the rear seats. The fabric for the seat faces was produced for AMC byChatham Mills, a veteran maker of interior fabrics. Cardin’s crest appeared on the front fenders. MSRP of the option was US$84.95. The trend for fashion designers doing special interiors goes on, but Cardin’s continues to be the “most daring and outlandish.”.
'73 Gremlin by Levi's,
This AMC Gremlin was once American Motors’ best-selling passenger car in the 70’s. In 1973 AMC launched Levi’s interior trim package, which included spun nylon upholstery made to look like denim (fire safety regulations prohibited the use of real cotton denim). Details included removable map pockets, burnished copper denim rivets, and red Levi’s logo tabs.
Last one of today – - such a high-light, my all time favourite !!
